Our Board of Directors

Ms Maria C Malave de Pena, MS

President and CEO. Holds a Master of Science Organization and Management with a specialty in EBusiness from Capella University, Mineapolis, Minnesota, and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez Campus. She has worked for DOD Naval Research Center in Panama City, Texas Instruments in Dallas, TX, and Northern Telecom as one of the first telecommuters. She earned the TI’s Quality Award of Excellence as well as similar accolades in her engineering career. She has been in engineering, science, technology, and mathematics education for the last 12 years.

Dr. Patricia Ordonez, PhD

Currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras. She received her B. A. in Hispanic and Italian Studies from Johns Hopkins University and her MS and PhD in Computer Science from the University of Maryland Baltimore County. Her research interests evolve from using machine learning and visualization to make the world a better place. She is passionate about diversifying the field of computer science and incorporating computer science in K-12 education for the purpose of democratizing access to computer science learning.

Dr. Gloria Pelaez-Arcona, PhD Ed

Currently serves as University of Miami Director of Accreditation for the School of Education. Born in Cuba and raised in Puerto Rico, she attended Bryn Mawr College and Penn State University; Dr. Pelaez holds a Master’s degree in TESOL from UM and a doctoral degree in Curriculum & Instruction from Florida Atlantic University.

Dr. Jose Ramos, PhD EE

Currently serves as an Associate Professor at Nova Southeastern University, Division of Math, Science, and Technology, Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences. Dr. Ramos holds a Ph.D. from George Institute of Technology, M.S.C.E. from George Institute of Technology, and B.S.C.E. from the University of Puerto Rico.

Dr. Ramon Vazquez, PhD EE

Currently serves as Associate Director, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus. Dr. Vasquez holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, La., a M.S. in Electrical Engineering from University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez, P.R., and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Magna Cum Laude, from University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez, P.R.

Ms. Maria Nydia Aponte

Over forty years of professional experience in accounting and business management. Retired.

Mr. Rex Conner, MS Ed

Mr. Conner is the Lead Partner of Mager Consortium, an organization dedicated to making high impact improvements in training and education by applying Dr. Robert Mager's Criterion-Referenced Instruction (CRI) methodology to develop performance tools and systems. Mr. Conner is a Certified Instructional Technologist, holds an undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University, a Master's degree in Education, Curriculum & Instruction from Chapman University, and a Doctorate in Flying Instruction from Air University.
